Timber Drum Co., a small workshop located in Nashville, Tennessee, is dedicated to crafting MADE IN U.S.A. instruments using locally sourced materials. The Slapstick, sometimes called a Whip, is a special effect percussion instrument that mimics the sharp sound of cracking a whip.

Crafted from solid hickory for a sharp sound, the Timber Drum Co. Slapstick is constructed from solid Tennessee hickory, giving it an organic, sharp, and cutting whip crack sound while being extraordinarily durable (most drumsticks are made of hickory). Every Timber Drum Co. instrument is made from Tennessee hardwood that is hand-crafted by skilled experts in our Nashville, Tennessee workshop, featuring a hand-rubbed oil finish that darkens the look.

At 18" L x 2.2" H x 0.8" W, the Timber Drum Co. Slapstick creates an authentic, sharp tone that carries over other instruments from concert band to orchestral percussion and choral groups to sound effects for holiday musicals. Weighing 1lb., this slapstick can easily be played with one hand, allowing you to pick it up quickly for accented sound effects while playing other percussion instruments like sleigh bells or shakers at the same time.

The two pieces of hickory are joined with a strong nickel-plated steel spring hinge that has a reactive touch at any volume. This hinge is highly responsive to your hand movements, enabling precise accents on the beat. The ergonomically shaped hickory handle is designed to fit comfortably in your hand, eliminating awkward hand positioning or fumbling to get the right grip.

Our design allows you to play this slapstick with one hand while keeping your other hand free to play other instruments. The skinnier 7 mm bottom piece and thicker 1 cm top piece give you a smoother cracking sound with reduced sharp attack, saving your ears while providing a more authentic and musical tone that blends, whether you're playing in an orchestra or providing sounds for a holiday musical.
